A youth soccer match in northern Italy turned violent Sunday evening when a 13-year-old soccer player was beaten by an opponent’s father. The incident took place in Collegno, near Turin, shortly after the final whistle of an under-14 Super Oscar tournament game between CSF Carmagnola and Volpiano Pianese.

Following a brief altercation among the players on the field, a 40-year-old man, identified as the father of a Carmagnola player, climbed over the fence and assaulted the opposing team’s goalkeeper. Witnesses say the man struck the 13-year-old in the face and continued hitting him even after he fell to the ground.

Officials from both teams intervened, and one of them was also injured during the attempt to stop the assault. The attacker was detained on site and later arrested by local authorities. The young goalkeeper was taken to Martini Hospital in Turin, where doctors diagnosed a fractured malleolus, an injury to the ankle.

Club condemns violence and takes action

CSF Carmagnola released an official statement condemning the incident and expressing regret over the actions of the parent. The club stated it had already taken disciplinary action against the individual involved.

According to the statement, the club aims to defend the integrity of its organization and the values of the sporting community.

The club also indicated it may take further legal steps to protect its reputation and ensure such behavior is not associated with its name. It emphasized that violence has no place in youth sports and that incidents like this are contrary to the principles the club upholds.

The match was part of the Super Oscar youth tournament, a regional event in the Piedmont area that features several underage teams. Tournament organizers have not yet released a statement regarding the incident.

The case, in which a young soccer player was beaten by an opponent’s father, has sparked concerns over rising tensions in youth sports. Authorities are expected to investigate further, and the court may consider both criminal and civil charges against the suspect.
